The fetor of cowardice and failure are aromas in close company which I will not abide. I am very stubborn in this respect.
As result, experiences have taught me that it is definitely a better option to jump right back up and get back in the saddle. In fact, you might need to grab the horse or bull by the face and give it a solid left hook before returning to your mount, just to re-establish who's in charge. A number of people don't agree with me to this extent, but that's just me; I'm a little old-school in this respect.
For instance, after I crashed and subsequently destroyed Little Suzi (my motorcycle) on the highway this last July, I encountered a number of people who were of the opinion that I'd better stay away from these two wheeled devils and get nice little car or something. In the interest of diplomacy and etiquette, I refrained from providing them with a solid left hook as well, and instead, firmly stated that my character would not allow such base behavior. My plan was then and remains to be to purchase another motorcycle as soon as possible; something fluorescent yellow with a monstrous horn and maybe blinking lights to ensure that I am as noticeable as possible to four-wheeled motorists.
That being said, I'm sure you've noticed it's getting a wee bit chilly out, and if you've ever ridden a motorcycle/scooter in the winter, then I'm sure you know that sometimes it can suck to say the least. Between dead batteries and black ice and facial frostbite, et cetera, even the most resolute All-Weather-Riders may secretly admit they wouldn't mind riding in car/truck/whatever. I rode Little Suzi all last winter, and while I loved her dearly, winter conditions got old very fast.
And so, things transpired in a most unpredictable way this week, and I am now the proud new owner of a big blue monster truck named "Lola". Ok, so seriously, technically it's not a"SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! MONSTER TRUCK RALLY AT THE EXPO CENTER!!!" kind of truck, but my-my, she is a big girl with a deep voice.
