There were plenty of frogleg-eating cartoons but this one was no doubt one of the most apalling and therefore appealling to me.
Normally every Saturday, I get together with my family for lunch, and after going to McCallister's for quite some time now, I had to protest. Didn't matter to me where we went, but I'd eaten the last "Big Nasty" or faux Rueben Sandwich I could stomach for a while.

My Mom mentioned that my Grandad had been wanting to go to "The Lazy Fisherman" in Bixby, but it hadn't worked out. So, since we were off to the pumpkin patch, that was right on the way, and away we went.
This place is pretty easy to find: Drive South on Memorial through Bixby. This place is on the right (West) just before the fork that can lead you East towards the pumpkin patch, or straight ahead into the boondocks.

A basket of frog legs and two sides. Yes, I started eating before remembering to take a picture.
A quiet little hole-in-the-wall, kind of a kitchy interior with diner undertones, it was comfortable and the waitress was friendly. This place has gained some of it's reputation for it's fried frog legs, and since somehow I'd never eaten fried frog legs, it was destined for me to rid another frog of their happy hopping days.
Just my opinion, but they didn't taste at all like chicken. Very white meat textured unlike fish although an aroma that reminded me of catfish. I'd definitely eat them again, although it might be interesting to prepare them differently, roasted maybe.
The baked beans were good, but they're beans, so there you go. Not so fond of the onion rings; they were a different style than normal. Instead of thick sliced, they serve them extrememely skinny so after they're fried, they taste like greasy versions of the canned onions people normally serve on green bean casserole.
